The American car company has just officially released images of the 2018 Mustang convertible sports car - just 3 days after the coupe version debuted at the Detroit exhibition.
The convertible has an exterior that is almost identical to the hardtop version. Notable features of the car include standard LED lights and a completely new front bumper. Inside, America's most popular sports car uses a 12-inch multi-function screen that can be customized to the user's preferences.
The Mustang convertible's debut surprised many Ford enthusiasts because the company chose not to show off its pride at the Detroit Auto Show, but instead at a much lesser-known show in South Carolina and Kentucky. It will also appear at more than 50 local auto shows across the US before officially going on sale.
Ford representatives said they reserved the Detroit show for the coupe as well as the F-150 pickup. Another reason given was that the company had "very few convertible prototypes to display at major shows."

For the first time since 1994, the Mustang has been powered by a non-V-6 engine. The automaker has dropped the V-6, replacing it with a 2.3-liter Ecoboost turbocharged four-cylinder and a traditional 5.0-liter V-8, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. A six-speed dual-clutch manual is also available.
Unlike the Chevrolet Camero, which can close its roof at 30 mph, the Mustang can only close its roof at 3 mph. The roof opens and closes in 10 seconds. The price of the car has not been revealed.
