Following a report and approval from the Vietnam Register, Ford officially announced a recall of Ranger models due to the risk of gear shift cable failure (or difficulty shifting, loss of drive) caused by improperly installed shift cable clamps, leading to friction against the driveshaft (longitudinal shaft).
Accordingly, Ford Vietnam will recall 2,566 Ranger 2.2L vehicles (the 3.2L version is not affected), all of which are manual transmission versions (including both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive). The recalled vehicles were manufactured between June 5, 2015, and February 2, 2016.

The recall and replacement process (including the shift cable and driveshaft, if necessary) will take more than 1.5 hours at all authorized Ford dealerships nationwide.
Ford Vietnam will be responsible for covering all costs associated with this recall.
