Framework is doubling the price of LPCAMM2 memory for the 13-inch Laptop Pro, with the 64GB version reaching $1,600. CEO Nirav Patel warns that rising component costs pose significant financial risks.
Framework has officially announced a near-double price increase for LPCAMM2 memory options on the Laptop 13 Pro modular laptop. The decision comes just before the expected end-of-July delivery date, due to unexpectedly high supplier costs.
Significant price fluctuations for LPCAMM2 memory.
According to the updated pricing, the 32GB LPCAMM2 memory module option has increased from $439 to $800. Meanwhile, the 64GB version has risen from $849 to a record high of $1,600. The 16GB option is currently priced at $239 until current stock runs out, before the new price increase is implemented in the near future.

Financial risks and advance order adjustment plans
CEO Nirav Patel stated that the cost estimate from supplier LPCAMM2 far exceeded the company's initial forecasts. He stressed that incurring this difference would put the Framework's operational viability at serious financial risk.
To minimize the impact on customers, Framework decided to reallocate component inventory and adjust pre-order configurations according to production batches:
- For the 64GB configuration:Current inventory is sufficient to fulfill orders up to Batch 4 of laptops and Batch 7 of motherboards. Orders placed after this batch will be switched to the 32GB module at the original 32GB price.
- For the 32GB DIY Edition configuration:The remaining 32GB modules will be prioritized for orders up to Batch 4 of laptops and Batch 7 of motherboards. Subsequent orders will be adjusted to 16GB modules at the original 16GB price.
- For the pre-built Core X7 Ultra:Since a 16GB configuration is not yet available for this version, orders with the 32GB option will temporarily retain their original configuration.
Widespread impact on storage systems and components.
This latest cost adjustment isn't limited to just RAM. Framework confirms that the selling price of systems and motherboards equipped with X7 and X9 processors has also increased due to the rising costs of chips, Windows licenses, as well as memory and hard drives on Ryzen AI 300 configurations.
However, some other components saw price reductions, including 48GB DDR5 RAM modules and SSDs like the SN850X 8TB and SN7100 1TB. Conversely, the SN850X 1TB and SN7100 4TB SSDs experienced slight price increases.
Framework is committed to maintaining the price paid by customers who pre-ordered systems with increased component costs. If a component in the configuration decreases in price, the company will reduce the price accordingly for the buyer. The Laptop 13 Pro is still on schedule for delivery to users at the end of July.
