The foreign man set up a shack in the forest to sell drugs.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nenh bought a large quantity of drugs from Laos and brought them to Vietnam, setting up a camp in the forest to sell them retail. This man also carried a gun and ammunition with him.
On January 25th, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case against defendant Vu Chong Nenh (born in 1971), residing in Muong Pet district, Xieng Khouang province, Laos, for the crimes of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics" and "Possession of military weapons"
According to the case file, around the beginning of April 2020, Nenh walked up a hill in Muong Pet district to buy from a Laotian man two blocks of heroin for 60 million Laotian kip, 20 packets of methamphetamine for 10 million Laotian kip, and one gun and three bullets for 8 million Vietnamese dong for self-defense.

After acquiring the drugs and gun, Nenh crossed into Vietnam through the Nam Can International Border Gate. He then took a motorbike taxi to Pu Lom hill in Minh Phuong village, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, where he set up a shack to sell the drugs.
At 11:30 PM on April 21st, while Nenh was on a hill selling drugs, he was inspected and arrested by the police of Tuong Duong district. The seized items included over 530 grams of drugs, one military firearm, and three bullets.
At the trial, the defendant testified that his purpose in bringing drugs from Laos to Vietnam was to resell them for profit. Regarding the gun and ammunition, the defendant stated that he bought them for self-defense. The defendant requested a reduced sentence so that he could return to his wife and children sooner.
In conclusion, the court sentenced Vu Chong Nenh to life imprisonment for "illegally trading in narcotics" and two years imprisonment for "illegally possessing military weapons." The total sentence for the defendant is life imprisonment.
