The man tricked his girlfriend into being sold abroad.
To get money for his expenses, Cut Kham Huong tricked and sold his girlfriend to China. This man has paid the price for his crime.
On August 19th, the People's Court of Nghe An province held a first-instance trial to hear the case against defendant Cut Kham Huong (born in 1995), residing in Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "human trafficking".
According to the indictment, around April 2015, Huong was working in Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh province) when she met a woman named Ly. This woman introduced herself as being from Tuong Duong district, married and living in China.
Ly persuaded Huong to find women to sell to China, promising each successful sale a commission of 90 million dong. Huong agreed and returned to her hometown to look for potential victims.

In early July 2015, Huong's girlfriend, Ms. Chich Thi Th. (born in 1999, residing in Bao Nam commune, Ky Son district), confided in her about her difficult family circumstances and her desire to work in a factory to earn money to support herself. She asked Huong to help her find a job.
Huong agreed and told Th. to invite her friend Moong Thi Kh. (born in 1999, residing in Bao Nam commune) to come along. Believing her, the two girls agreed to go.
Afterward, Huong took her boyfriend and Ms. Kh. by bus to Quang Ninh. There, Huong was met by a woman arranged by Ly, who took her across the border into China via an unofficial route.
Upon arriving in China, Cut Kham Huong sold her girlfriend and her sister Kh. to Ly for 182 million dong. Fearing the victims would find out about the transaction, Huong deceived them by saying, "If you stay and marry a Chinese man, you will bring 90 million dong back to each family."
About 15 days later, Ly sold Ms. Th. to a Chinese man to be his wife for 195 million VND; and sold Ms. Kh. for 240 million VND.
Regarding the victims, after being trafficked for 5 years, in October 2020, Ms. Th. was allowed by her husband's family to return to Vietnam to visit her family. As for Ms. Kh., she returned to her country in February 2024.
In early March 2024, the two victims filed a complaint against Cut Kham Huong with the police.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime, stating that he committed it out of greed. He claimed that the 182 million VND obtained from selling people had been spent entirely on personal expenses. The defendant offered his apologies to the two victims.
The panel of judges determined that the defendant's actions violated the law and posed a danger to society. After considering all aspects of the case, the panel of judges sentenced the defendant, Cụt Khăm Hương, to 8 years in prison. Regarding civil matters, the court ordered the defendant to compensate each victim 90 million VND.
