Nearly 1,200 athletes participated in the 8th Ky Son District Sports Festival.

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 25th, Ky Son district held the opening ceremony of the 8th District-level Sports Festival, 2017.

In preparation for the District-level Sports Festival, from February to September 2017, all 21 communes and towns in the district successfully organized grassroots-level sports festivals with thousands of athletes participating.

The 8th Ky Son District Sports Festival this year will see the participation of nearly 1,200 athletes from 21 communes and towns, as well as various units and sectors in the district. The athletes will compete in 8 sports with 20 events, including football, men's and women's volleyball, badminton, table tennis, tug-of-war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, and traditional ball throwing.

The Sports Festival is an opportunity to showcase the strength of the district and a driving force for Ky Son border district to continue promoting the movement of physical training and sports following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh. This is especially important in physical education in schools, building a force of elite athletes, improving sports achievements; enhancing the quality of officials, coaches, and referees... as well as selecting the highest-achieving athletes to participate in the 8th Provincial Sports Festival in 2018.

The congress will take place over 5 days, with the closing ceremony and awards presentation scheduled for the afternoon of November 29th.
