Nearly 1,800 athletes participated in the 17th Phu Dong Sports Festival of Nghe An province.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 21st, at the Vinh City Sports Center, the Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized the 17th Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2015.
Attending the event were Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from various provincial departments and agencies.

The Phu Dong Sports Festival of Nghe An province in 2014 took place from December 21st to 25th with the participation of nearly 1,800 athletes from primary, secondary, and high schools in 21 districts, towns, and cities across the province, competing in 8 sports: athletics, table tennis, badminton, chess, sepak takraw, volleyball, football, and stick pushing.

In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Director of the Department of Education and Training, emphasized that the Phu Dong Sports Festival is a major cultural and sports exchange event for teenagers and children throughout the province. It serves to assess the results of physical education in schools, gradually improve the quality of school sports, and contribute to the overall improvement of education.

This is also an opportunity to discover students' athletic talents, select and provide additional training for the province's gifted student team to participate in the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2016 in the province and Thanh Hoa province.
