Nearly 100 athletes participated in the beach sepak takraw championship.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 31st, the opening ceremony of the National Beach Sepak Takraw Championship took place at Cua Lo Town Park.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Sepak Takraw Department of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. From Nghe An province, there were representatives from provincial departments and agencies, as well as leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Cua Lo town, along with 97 athletes from 7 provinces and cities with strong sepak takraw movements nationwide.

The beach sepak takraw championship took place from August 31st to September 4th. Athletes competed for seven sets of medals: men's team, women's team; men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, and men's and women's singles.

Representatives from the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers to the athletes participating in the competition.

The 2016 National Beach Sepak Takraw Championship is part of the national competition system, held annually to help athletes gain experience and hone their skills, while also serving as an opportunity to evaluate the training and coaching of sepak takraw; encouraging localities and sectors to invest in developing the sport and building sepak takraw forces nationwide.

The tournament also serves as an opportunity for the Sepak Takraw Department of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to select outstanding athletes to supplement the national team in preparation for the 5th Asian Beach Games in 2016.
