Through screening, 207 children were indicated for surgery, including 53 children with congenital heart disease; 52 children with eye diseases, 47 children with cleft lip and palate, and 55 children with motor disabilities.
In addition to screening at the district health center, the team of doctors and nurses visited several kindergens in mountainous and disadvantaged communes to provide free check-ups for young children.
This is the first screening for surgical indications for disabled children in 2017. The Provincial Children's Protection Fund will compile a list of those children who are indicated for surgery, guide them in preparing the necessary documents, and then appeal to philanthropists for financial support to fund the free surgery.
