Nearly 3,000 children in Nghe An province received free disability screening.

From April 7-10, 2026, the Nghe An Provincial Children's Protection Fund, in coordination with health units, organized a free disability screening program for nearly 3,000 children in four communes: Tan An, Tan Phu, Van Hien, and Thuan Trung.

The program is implemented with funding from the Zhishan Foundation and VinaCapital, in collaboration with Hoan My Vinh Hospital and Hoan My Da Nang Hospital.

The primary target group for the examinations consists of preschool-aged children. They receive direct examinations, screenings, and health consultations from a team of doctors and medical professionals specializing in cardiology, pediatric surgery, dentistry, and urology/genitals.

After examinationscreeningDoctors identified 80 cases requiring surgery or monitoring. Specifically: 37 cases of congenital heart defects (of which 27 required surgery, 10 required monitoring), 13 cases of motor disabilities, 27 cases of genitourinary malformations, 2 cases of cleft lip and palate, and 3 cases of pectus excavatum.

Following the program, the Provincial Children's Protection Fund will guide families in completing the necessary paperwork and connect them with organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to provide financial support for free surgery for the children.

In addition, parents are also advised on how to care for and monitor their children's health, and how to recognize early signs of abnormalities so that they can take their children for examination and treatment in a timely manner.
