Nearly 700 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Con Cuong are damaged by pests and diseases.
(Baonghean.vn) - In the summer-autumn crop, Con Cuong district planted over 2,000 hectares, of which nearly 500 hectares were summer-autumn rice, the remaining area was winter-spring rice. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the entire district currently has nearly 700 hectares of rice being damaged by pests and diseases.

Due to hot weather combined with early rain and floods since the beginning of the crop, currently, 654 hectares of rice in Con Cuong district are infected with brown spot fungus, yellow leaves, and early ripening; mainly the rice areas are in the stage of preparing to form panicles.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh in Khe Ran village, Bong Khe commune worried: "This crop, my family planted 3 sao of Thien Uu 8 rice. Currently, the entire rice area has been infected with yellow leaf fungus. My family also went directly to the district's Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection Station to buy medicine according to the instructions of the station staff."

In addition, nearly 15 hectares of rice in communes such as Yen Khe, Chi Khe, Luc Da, Mon Son... are infected with brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers with an average density of 500 - 600 individuals/m2.2, locally: 1,500 - 2,000 individuals/m2. 6.5 hectares of rice in Mon Son, Luc Da, and Mau Duc communes have been damaged by rats at a rate of 10 - 15%; locally: 20 - 30% of the stalks.
Faced with that situation, Con Cuong district has issued an official dispatch directing localities to advise people to actively visit their fields, assign staff to regularly follow the base, detect and isolate areas infected with pests to guide farmers in timely and effective prevention and control.
