Nearly 700 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Con Cuong have been damaged by pests and diseases.
(Baonghean.vn) - Con Cuong district planted over 2,000 hectares of rice during the summer-autumn season, including nearly 500 hectares of summer-autumn rice and the rest being autumn rice. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions, nearly 700 hectares of rice in the district are currently being damaged by pests and diseases.

Due to the hot weather combined with early floods since the beginning of the season, currently 654 hectares of rice in Con Cuong district are infected with brown spot fungus, yellowing leaves, and premature ripening; mainly areas where the rice is in the heading stage.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh from Khe Ran village, Bong Khe commune, expressed her concern: "This season, my family planted 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of Thien Uu 8 rice variety. Currently, the entire area is affected by yellow leaf fungus. My family has also gone directly to the District's Crop Production and Plant Protection Station to buy medicine as instructed by the station's staff."

In addition, nearly 15 hectares of rice fields in communes such as Yen Khe, Chi Khe, Luc Da, Mon Son, etc., are infested with brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers, with an average density of 500-600 insects/m² in some areas.2Locally: 1,500 - 2,000 individuals/m²2In the communes of Mon Son, Luc Da, and Mau Duc, 6.5 hectares of rice fields have been damaged by rats, with a damage rate of 10-15%; in some areas, 20-30% of the tillers have been destroyed.
In response to this situation, Con Cuong district issued a directive to local authorities, advising people to actively inspect their fields, assigning officials to regularly monitor the situation, identify and isolate areas affected by pests and diseases, and guide farmers in timely and effective pest control.
