Connecting and developing the economy of the Southwest region of Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - The districts in the southwestern region of Nghe An need to have a plan to jointly focus resources from several national target programs to invest in infrastructure and regional linkage projects.
This is one of the points included in the Announcement of the Conclusions of the Scientific Workshop "Arguments for Economic Development in the Southwest Region of Nghe An" recently issued by the People's Committee of Nghe An province.
Accordingly, on October 30th, the Provincial People's Committee organized a scientific seminar titled "Arguments for Economic Development in the Southwestern Region of Nghe An". After hearing reports, presentations, and opinions at the seminar, the participants accepted the following points:
Regarding policy mechanisms, planning, and regional linkages in the Southwest:
- It is necessary to develop plans for socio-economic development in the region, linking the development of sub-regions and inter-regions. Districts in the region need to have plans to jointly focus resources from a number of national target programs to concentrate investment in infrastructure, sectors, and regional linkage projects.
- Localities in the region need to have cooperation programs in areas where they have advantages, develop raw material sources, and attract businesses to process products.
- There are clear policy mechanisms in place to attract investment into the region's key economic sectors.
- Promptly develop a plan for the industrialization of agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh Highway corridor.
- Forest development planning is integrated with the policy of planning for the development of medicinal plants.
- The establishment of the Thanh Thuy Border Gate Economic Zone will play a crucial role in spreading development to the Southwest region and surrounding areas.
Regarding infrastructure development:Strengthening investment in the construction, upgrading, and completion of inter-provincial and inter-regional connecting routes in a synchronized and modern manner aims to facilitate transportation between regions and localities. Transportation and telecommunications are two priority areas in supporting the economic development of the Southwest region. Emphasis will be placed on developing several advantageous sectors of the region, such as forestry and medicinal plant cultivation; tourism development; and border gate economic development.
