According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the estimated volume of imported fertilizers of all types in May 2016 reached 242,000 tons with a value of 68 million USD, bringing the total volume of imported fertilizers in the first five months of 2016 to 1.48 million tons with a value of 425 million USD, a decrease of 9.8% in volume and 18.9% in value compared to the same period in 2015.

Specifically, the volume of urea fertilizer imports is estimated at 184,000 tons with a value of 45 million USD, an increase of more than 2.5 times in volume and more than 2 times in value compared to the same period in 2015; SA fertilizer imports are estimated at 389,000 tons with an import value of 48 million USD, a decrease of 10.2% in volume and 19.9% ​​in value compared to 2015.

The main source of fertilizer imports remains China, accounting for 44.7% of the total import volume of this item. Fertilizer imports from the Chinese market increased by 0.1% in volume but decreased by 3% in value compared to the same period in 2015.

The markets with the strongest year-on-year growth in value compared to 2015 were Indonesia (up more than 578 times in volume and 138 times in value), followed by Malaysia (up more than 18 times in volume and more than 8 times in value), and Israel (up 55.8% in volume and 39% in value). The markets with the sharpest declines in value were Russia and Belarus, both experiencing decreases of over 30% in volume and over 40% in value compared to the same period in 2015.

Regarding pesticides and raw materials, the estimated import value in May 2016 reached US$54 million, bringing the total import value for this item in the first five months of the year to US$283 million, a decrease of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2015.

The main source of imported pesticides and raw materials is China (although down 21.2% compared to 2015), accounting for 49.3% of the total value of this item. Markets with strong import value increases in 2016 compared to the same period in 2015 include France (up 53.6%), Singapore (up 53.2%), and Germany (up 13.9%). The market with the sharpest decline is South Korea compared to the same period in 2015, with import value decreasing by 57.7%.
