Meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly, and to summarize the activities of the Nghe An Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, 15th term.

Attending the program were Comrade Do Van Chien - Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and a delegate from Nghe An province.

Also attending were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Social Affairs; Thai Thanh Quy - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, representative of the Nghe An delegation; former members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam: Truong Dinh Tuyen - former Minister of Trade, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Le Doan Hop - former Minister of Information and Communications, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province in the 11th term; representatives of the leadership of the National Assembly agencies, the National Assembly Office, etc.

The leaders of Nghe An province included: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies.

A term of office marked by many achievements.

Exactly 80 years ago, on January 6, 1946, the first general election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam took place nationwide, electing 333 representatives and marking the birth of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This is a historical milestone, representing the first leap forward in the democratic system of the new Vietnamese state.

From the first general election to the present day, our country has held 15 National Assembly elections. Throughout this 80-year period, from 1946 to the present, Nghe An province has had a total of 222 delegates, including 2 delegates who served for 6 terms; 3 delegates who served for 4 terms; 12 delegates who served for 3 terms; 7 delegates who served for 2 terms; and 169 delegates who served for 1 term.

Delivering a speech, Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province - reviewed the 80-year journey of formation and development of the Vietnamese National Assembly; and affirmed the pride of generations of National Assembly deputies from Nghe An province in contributing their intellect and responsibility to the activities of the highest state power organ.

Building upon the achievements of previous generations, the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province has continuously improved the quality of its activities, leaving its mark on a term of responsibility and action, achieving clear results, affirming its role as a reliable and strong bridge between the National Assembly and the people; and at the same time making practical contributions to the overall development of the province and the country.

“Entering a new phase, with the revolutionary tradition and aspirations of President Ho Chi Minh's homeland, the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies will continue to innovate, act, and contribute, helping the National Assembly build a socialist rule of law state of the people, by the people, and for the people; building a prosperous, happy, and sustainably developed Vietnam,” Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh stated.

Making significant contributions to the activities of the National Assembly and the development of the homeland.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Do Van Chien, acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the important contributions of the Nghe An delegation of National Assembly deputies in general and the 15th term in particular to the achievements of the Vietnamese National Assembly over the past 80 years, contributing to the overall achievements of the country.

“Over the past 15 terms, the National Assembly delegation has upheld the glorious traditions of our revolutionary homeland, the homeland of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh, with its upright, honest, simple, and responsible people. They have contributed many valuable opinions to major decisions of the National Assembly and truthfully reflected the opinions and recommendations of voters and the aspirations of the people of the province to the National Assembly, contributing to the National Assembly's promulgation of many specific mechanisms and policies for Nghe An province and for the whole country, resolving difficulties, mobilizing resources, and promoting socio-economic development of the country and Nghe An province,” Comrade Do Van Chien emphasized.

Looking ahead, Comrade Do Van Chien suggested that the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Nghe An province and each delegate continue to fulfill their responsibilities, propagating and mobilizing the people to effectively implement the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws; contributing to the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party; and promoting and mobilizing efforts to contribute to the successful election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

In addition, delegates need to continue to stay close to reality, listen to the opinions of voters and the people according to their functions, duties and capabilities, and work with the province to care for policy beneficiary families, vulnerable and disadvantaged people, so that they can celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse in a joyful, warm and safe manner.

In the solemn and warm atmosphere of the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien expressed his sincere and profound gratitude for the attention and assistance of the Party committees, government, and Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels of Nghe An province; especially thanking the voters who have shown their love and trust in electing him as a delegate to the 15th National Assembly and wholeheartedly assisting him in fulfilling his duties.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the local Party committee and government, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Nghe An province - acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation over the past terms.

From now until the end of the 15th term, the comrade suggested that the Delegation and the National Assembly deputies of the province continue to proactively and actively cooperate, closely follow the practical situation, and make many specific proposals and recommendations to the Party committees and local authorities in concretizing and effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee expressed his expectations and confidence that the 16th National Assembly Delegation of the province will build upon its glorious experiences and traditions, continue to innovate in organization and working methods, achieve many important results, and make even greater contributions to the overall renewal of the country and the cause of building and developing the province; worthy of the trust and confidence of the voters and the people.

The comrade affirmed that the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and all levels and sectors in the province will continue to pay attention to and create the most favorable conditions for the activities of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and the National Assembly Deputies; and at the same time actively coordinate and promote the role of the Delegation in the development of the locality.

On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly awarded the "For the Cause of the Vietnamese National Assembly" commemorative medal to 15 individuals; the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province awarded certificates of merit to 11 collectives and 29 individuals who have made significant contributions to the activities of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies.
