Construction is being expedited on the Ta Lam dike upgrade project.
(Baonghean.vn) - The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dike in Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong, and Thanh Dong communes (Thanh Chuong district) is being accelerated to be completed before the peak of the rainy season.
The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dike in Thanh Chuong district, from K18 to K25+546.5, is being undertaken by Tay An Co., Ltd., with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the investor. The project, covering the three communes of Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong, and Thanh Dong, is being expedited to complete the main components before the rainy season.
The dike system is protecting 102,600 people and 16,300 hectares of residential land, agricultural land, and infrastructure in the project area. In addition, it contributes to improving transportation by upgrading inter-communal roads in Thanh Chuong district connecting with Nam Dan, facilitating the exchange of agricultural products and the development of tourism along the Lam River.

According to the records, the upgraded dike is over 7 km long, designed on the foundation of the old dike, with a 6.5m wide asphalt concrete surface. In addition, there is a service road for local residents with a 4.5m wide base and a 4.0m wide concrete surface.
To ensure greater flood protection, this project also includes upgrading the river-side embankment, specifically the Cam Thai 1 and 2 embankment sections – areas where the riverbank has eroded to the base of the embankment, threatening its safety.
Additionally, there are rescue and relief routes combining construction and operation management: Route No. 1: 361.94m long, starting from the intersection in Rang town (intersecting with National Highway 46), connecting to the beginning of the dike at K18+00, with asphalt concrete structure; Route No. 2: 128.23m long, starting from the intersection at Dung market (intersecting with National Highway 46), connecting and closing with the dike at stake 9 (K24+946.74), with asphalt concrete structure.

According to Mr. Dang Thanh Hao, the project manager of Tay An Co., Ltd. - the unit directly responsible for the construction - the project commenced on October 1, 2016, with a commitment to completion within 29 months. To date, the unit has completed all the land and dike surface upgrades with a total excavation and embankment volume of approximately 150,000 m³.3The earthworks are progressing ahead of schedule. Currently, the concrete embankment reinforcement is being urgently implemented at Cam Thai 1 and 2 points, with a total length of 1,600m.
Over the past few days, despite the hot weather, the unit has mobilized all resources to accelerate progress, and has now reached nearly 1,000 meters. According to the plan, the embankment at these two critical points will be completed by around September 15th. After that, the unit will continue to construct the road surface and subsequent items.
"The biggest difficulty at the construction site right now is that due to the expansion of the dike's surface and base, almost the entire existing access road for local residents has been lost. Expanding it requires land clearance. The unit and the communes in the area are awaiting guidance and coordination from the district and province to proceed, because without this road, rescue efforts and ensuring the livelihoods of people living behind the dike will be very difficult," Mr. Dang Thanh Hao added.
Recognizing the importance of the dike system in flood control, the Project Management Board and the Nghe An Dike Management Sub-Department have regularly inspected and monitored the progress and quality of the project. According to assessments by inspection teams, the project is being constructed on schedule and with good quality, contributing to disaster prevention efforts.
