On the morning of December 26th, the General Statistics Office announced that the gross domestic product (GDP) for 2015 is estimated to have increased by 6.68% compared to 2014. In particular, GDP in the fourth quarter increased by 7.01%, higher than the 6.12% increase in the first quarter, 6.47% in the second quarter, and 6.87% in the third quarter.

Thus, this year's GDP growth has exceeded the initial target of 6.2% and reached its highest level in the past five years (6.25% in 2011, 5.25% in 2012, 5.42% in 2013, and 5.98% in 2014).
Based on this growth rate, the General Statistics Office views the economy as having "clearly recovered."
In the 6.68% growth rate of 2015, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector increased by 2.41% - contributing 0.4 percentage points to the overall growth, the industry and construction sector increased by 9.64% - contributing 3.2 percentage points, and the service sector increased by 6.33% - contributing 2.43 percentage points.
According to the General Statistics Office, the size of the economy this year at current prices reached 4,192.9 trillion VND; GDP per capita in 2015 is estimated at 45.7 million VND/person, equivalent to 2,109 USD, an increase of 57 USD compared to 2014.
From the perspective of GDP utilization, final consumption increased by 9.12% year-on-year, asset accumulation increased by 9.04%, and the difference between exports and imports of goods and services reduced overall growth by 8.62%.
Regarding state budget revenue, from the beginning of the year to December 15, 2015, it is estimated to reach 884.8 trillion VND, equivalent to 97.1% of the projected figure, including domestic revenue of 657 trillion VND, revenue from crude oil of 62.4 trillion VND, and budget revenue from import and export activities of 160 trillion VND.
Total state budget expenditure is estimated at 1,064.5 trillion VND, equivalent to 92.8% of the projected budget, including 162 trillion VND for development investment; 745 trillion VND for socio-economic development, national defense and security, and administrative management; and 148.3 trillion VND for debt repayment and aid.
According to the General Statistics Office's report, as of December 15, 2015, the country had 2,013 newly licensed FDI projects and 814 projects with increased capital, totaling US$22.76 billion. Of this, implemented FDI capital this year reached US$14.5 billion, an increase of 17.4% compared to 2014.
