Domestic coffee prices today

Specifically, in Di Linh, Lam Ha, and Bao Loc districts (Lam Dong province), the price of coffee today is being purchased at 110,100 VND/kg.

In Cu M'gar district (Dak Lak), the price of coffee today is 110,300 VND/kg. In Ea H'leo district (Dak Lak) and Buon Ho (Dak Lak), the price of coffee today is the same at 110,200 VND/kg.

Similarly, in Dak Nong province, today's coffee prices are being purchased at 110,400 VND/kg in Gia Nghia and 110,300 VND/kg in Dak R'lap.

In Gia Lai province, today's coffee price is 110,300 VND/kg (Chu Prong), while in Pleiku and La Grai it is 110,200 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, the price of coffee today in Kon Tum province is being purchased at 110,300 VND/kg.

Currently, farmers in the districts of Gia Lai province are entering the beginning of the coffee harvest season. The price of fresh coffee beans in the area ranges from 22,000-25,000 VND/kg, while green coffee beans have reached a record high of over 109,000 VND/kg, making the farmers very happy.

The Central Highlands region has over 600,000 hectares of coffee plantations, of which Gia Lai province accounts for more than 100,000 hectares, concentrated in the districts of Dak Doa, Ia Grai, Chu Prong, Chu Pah, Mang Yang, Duc Co, Kbang, Chu Se, and Chu Puh. The area of ​​coffee plantations in production is approximately 87,000 hectares.

After years of crop failures or low prices, the 2023-2024 coffee season has seen improvements with higher prices and yields. However, coffee growers in Gia Lai remain concerned about widespread coffee theft.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Krai commune, said that the locality has established 15 security teams with 48 members to patrol day and night. The authorities also require agricultural businesses not to purchase unripe coffee or from sellers of unknown origin, especially from underage children. Any suspicious cases must be reported immediately to the police.

Theft is not only happening in Ia Grai but also in Duc Co and Dak Doa districts and Pleiku city. Many coffee plantations have been vandalized, with thieves stealing the fruit and even damaging the branches. The high price of coffee has forced farmers to install cameras, set up tents, and hire guards to watch over the plants all night.

In response to this situation, the Gia Lai Provincial Police have advised residents to proactively take preventive measures, install lighting, security cameras, and alarm systems to protect their property.

World coffee prices today

At the close of the most recent trading session, Robusta coffee prices in London for November 2024 delivery rose by $89/ton to $4,626/ton, and for January 2025 delivery rose by $79/ton to $4,540/ton.

Arabica coffee prices for December 2024 delivery increased by 5.55 cents/lb, reaching 269.10 cents/lb, while prices for March 2025 delivery increased by 5.90 cents/lb, reaching 269.00 cents/lb.

Coffee prices surged, with Arabica reaching a six-week high and Robusta a three-week high. This was due to Brazilian farmers limiting sales, expecting prices to continue rising, which tightened market supply and pushed prices higher.

Robusta supply has also become scarce as exports from Vietnam have slowed, further straining the global coffee market and supporting price increases. Recent unfavorable weather in both Brazil and Vietnam has also raised concerns about the upcoming harvest in both countries.

One factor that could significantly impact coffee prices next week is the EU's decision on November 13-14 regarding the implementation timeline of the European Union's Forest Protection Regulation (EUDR).

Investors are awaiting clear signals from the policies of Mr. Trump, who has just declared victory in the US presidential election. This situation could cause capital to shift to speculative markets, including coffee, contributing to an upward price trend this week.

The EU is currently the world's largest coffee consumer market, importing 3.2 million tons, accounting for 31.2% of total global coffee trade. Among them, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands – four EU member states – are all among Vietnam's top 10 largest coffee importers in 2024.
