In Vietnam, domestic coffee prices are currently heavily influenced by international trends, particularly supply from Brazil. Favorable weather conditions in growing regions are helping coffee plants thrive, while abundant robusta production and the prospect of arabica recovery are making it difficult for coffee prices to remain high.

In addition, the robusta harvest season has begun in Brazil and Indonesia, pushing more supply onto the market. Favorable weather conditions in arabica-growing regions are also easing concerns about climate risks that had caused prices to surge in April.

Besides supply, the coffee market is also affected by signs of slowing demand in the US and Europe. Roasters are temporarily halting purchases due to persistently high prices. Simultaneously, the weakening Brazilian real in recent days has prompted Brazilian farmers to increase sales, further putting downward pressure on the global coffee market.

Coffee prices on the world market rose slightly on both exchanges:

September 2025 delivery: Increased by $80/ton, to $5,093/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

Trade negotiations between the US and China have concluded with positive results, as both sides agreed to significantly reduce tariffs on each other's goods within 90 days. The US will lower import tariffs from 145% to 30%, while China will reduce tariffs from 125% to 10%. This move is expected to ease trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.

In the commodities market, coffee prices edged slightly higher again. This was mainly due to a slight decline in the US dollar index (DXY) after a sharp rise at the beginning of the week. Additionally, the US consumer price index (CPI) for April matched expectations, showing no signs of inflation as feared, which also weakened the US dollar.

Furthermore, forecasts indicating an increase in global coffee supply are also putting additional pressure on prices. According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Honduras' coffee production for the 2025-2026 crop year could increase by 5.1% compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 5.8 million bags.
