Despite the sharp rise in global coffee prices, Vietnam's coffee industry continues to experience impressive growth, becoming a rare bright spot in agricultural exports in 2025.
Thanks to record international prices and stable domestic production, coffee exports this year are expected to reach over 1.6 million tons, equivalent to $9 billion. This figure far surpasses last year's record of $5.62 billion.
In the first nine months of the year, we exported nearly 1.24 million tons, earning $7 billion. As a result, coffee has officially surpassed fruits and vegetables to become the agricultural export item with the highest value.
Coffee prices have also been steadily rising. The average price in September reached $5,700 per ton, bringing the average price for the first nine months to $5,655 per ton, 45.2% higher than the same period last year and the highest level ever recorded.
This success stems from a significant transformation of the industry. Vietnam is not only selling raw coffee but is also boosting exports of deeply processed products such as roasted and instant coffee, items with significantly higher added value.

Since the beginning of August, the US has imposed a 50% tariff on Brazilian coffee due to strained bilateral relations. According to the President of the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Association, if the US does not lift the tariff, Brazilian coffee exports to the US will continue to decline. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about signs of improving relations between the two countries.
According to Cecafé, due to the impact of tariffs, the US is no longer the largest market for Brazilian coffee. In August, Brazilian coffee exports to the US fell by 46% compared to the same period last year, when Brazil reached record exports. The situation has not improved, as of September 19th, this amount had decreased by another 20% compared to the previous month.
Ferreira, CEO of Tristao Trading, one of Brazil's largest coffee exporters, stated: "If this tariff remains in place, coffee exports to the US will certainly continue to decline."
