In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 5000 VND/kg and reached 129,300 VND/kg.

The coffee market is experiencing a strong upward trend, with prices rising for five consecutive sessions since US President Donald Trump announced a temporary suspension of retaliatory tariffs on April 9th. Between April 10th and 15th, the price of green coffee beans in the Central Highlands increased by more than 12,000 VND/kg, equivalent to about 10%, reaching 129,300 – 130,200 VND/kg, approaching the high of 133,000 – 135,000 VND/kg seen before trade tensions erupted.
Previously, the coffee market experienced a sharp decline due to the US imposing high tariffs on imported goods from many countries, including major coffee exporters such as Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia. This move raised concerns that the cost of the tariffs would be passed on to American consumers, amidst high global coffee prices due to declining supply.
However, when President Trump announced a 90-day pause on the new tariffs, keeping them at 10%, market sentiment improved significantly. Businesses and investors reacted positively, helping global coffee prices recover quickly.
Besides policy factors, coffee prices are also being supported by the weakening USD/DXY index, which is at its lowest level in over 3 years, and robusta inventories on the London exchange have fallen to their lowest level in 6 weeks.

Coffee prices on the world market continued to rise sharply on both exchanges:

Statistics from the Customs Department show that in March, Vietnam exported over 181,000 tons of coffee, worth $1.06 billion. Although production decreased slightly compared to the same period in 2024, the value increased sharply by 58.1%. This also marks the first time Vietnam's coffee export value has exceeded $1 billion in a single month.
According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first quarter of 2025, total coffee exports reached US$2.88 billion, an increase of nearly 50% compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached US$5,656 per ton, an increase of over 71%.
The main markets for Vietnamese coffee remain European countries such as Germany, Spain, and Italy, along with Japan, South Korea, China, and some Asian countries. Meanwhile, the US accounts for only about 6% of total exports.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of VICOFA, believes that this success is not only due to high selling prices but also stems from the export market expansion strategy of Vietnamese businesses amidst a volatile global market.
Foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) also play a significant role, accounting for 27% of the volume and 28% of the value of green coffee exports, and up to 86% of the value of processed coffee exports, demonstrating effective coordination between domestic and foreign businesses.
