Coffee prices fluctuated erratically, constantly changing in response to the US dollar. At the beginning of the week, positive news from US-China trade negotiations boosted the dollar, causing coffee prices to fall sharply. Then, on Wednesday, a slight decrease in the CPI weakened the dollar, pushing coffee prices higher. On Thursday, after the US and China agreed to reduce tariffs for 90 days, the dollar strengthened, causing coffee prices to fall sharply again.

According to the latest report from the International Coffee Organization (ICO), in March, three of the four major coffee exporting regions in the world recorded growth, while South America continued to decline. This caused South America's export share to fall to 35.7% of the total global coffee volume, the lowest level since June 2023.

Specifically, the South American region exported only 4.6 million bags of coffee in March, a decrease of 15.9% compared to the same period last year. This decline is partly due to Brazil significantly increasing exports in the 2023-2024 crop year to compensate for the supply shortage from Vietnam, which was affected by a poor harvest.

Nevertheless, for the first six months of the 2024-2025 crop year (from October 2024 to March 2025), global coffee exports still decreased by 1.9%, to only 67.9 million bags, lower than the 69.2 million bags of the same period last year.
