Coffee prices today, May 18, 2025: Sharp decline.
Domestic coffee prices today, May 18th, are at 124,500 - 125,200 VND/kg. Domestic coffee prices have sharply decreased by 1000 to 1400 VND/kg compared to yesterday. In the first seven months of the 2025/2026 crop year, Vietnam exported approximately 14.82 million bags, and it is estimated that about 80% of this coffee has been sold so far.
Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, May 18, 2025, have sharply decreased compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 124,500 and 125,200 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at a maximum price of 125,200 VND/kg, a sharp decrease of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 125,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by 1000 VND/kg and are trading at 125,000 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee decreased by 1400 VND/kg and is now at 124,500 VND/kg.
Vietnam has now completed 8 months of the 12-month 2025/2026 coffee crop season. The new harvest season is expected to begin in about 4 months. In the first 7 months of the crop year, Vietnam exported approximately 14.82 million bags, and it is estimated that about 80% of the coffee has been sold so far.
However, competitors such as Brazil, Indonesia, and Uganda are about to enter their new robusta harvest, which will provide additional supply to the global market, especially in the second half of this year. This situation necessitates a long-term development strategy for the coffee industry, focusing on improving raw material quality and promoting deep processing, rather than relying solely on exporting raw coffee.
In the first four months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports reached only 663,000 tons, a decrease of nearly 10% compared to the same period last year. Given the increasingly scarce supply, the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) has revised down its production forecast for the 2024-2025 crop year from 28 million bags to 26.5 million bags. This indicates a growing risk of coffee shortages.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:
Robusta coffee (London):
July 2025 delivery: Decreased by $106/ton, to $4,865/ton.
Delivery in September 2025: Reduced by $100/ton, to $4,860/ton.
Arabica coffee (New York):
July 2025 delivery: Down 9.35 cents/lb, to 365.65 cents/lb.
September 2025 delivery: Down 8.85 cents/lb, to 362.5 cents/lb.
During trading last night and early this morning, May 18th, coffee prices on both the London and New York exchanges plummeted. The $5,000/ton mark, which had been expected in May, now seems distant as the market is flooded with red.
Coffee industry experts say this decline is not surprising. This is the time when Brazil officially enters its robusta (Conilon) harvest season, increasing global supply. This year, favorable weather conditions have allowed Brazil to harvest faster, adding further downward pressure on international markets.
Furthermore, coffee prices have risen too sharply recently, two or three times higher than before, making a downward adjustment based on supply and demand inevitable, similar to many other agricultural products.
