Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, August 19, 2025, continued to rise, fluctuating between 117,100 and 117,800 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in the former Dak Nong region are buying coffee at the highest price of 117,800 VND/kg, a slight increase of 300 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 117,600 VND/kg, an increase of 300 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by 300 VND/kg compared to yesterday and are trading at 117,500 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 300 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 117,100 VND/kg.

Last week, domestic coffee prices continuously rose, while the London exchange also saw price increases in 4 out of 5 trading sessions. This development has led many to worry that profit-taking pressure may appear this week. However, given the current context, a continued increase in coffee prices is not surprising.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Long, Director of Vietnam Coffee Academy JSC (VCA) in Gia Lai province, the main reason for this coffee price increase stems from a shortage of supply. Mr. Long emphasized that if there were an oversupply on the market, it would be difficult to push prices up.
Besides supply and demand factors, Mr. Long also pointed out the involvement of large investors, which significantly impacts prices. Meanwhile, farmers no longer have much coffee in their hands, giving these big players an advantage in controlling prices.
Mr. Long predicted that Vietnam would begin its harvest season in about two months, and after three months, the supply would become abundant thanks to favorable weather conditions this year. At that time, coffee prices are forecast to fluctuate between 70,000 and 100,000 VND/kg, unless there are unusual weather fluctuations in Brazil that affect global supply.
World coffee prices today
On the London exchange, online robusta coffee futures contracts for September 2025 closed yesterday at $4,142 per ton, down 1.4% ($59 per ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 contract fell 1.43% ($58 per ton), reaching $4,009 per ton.
Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery fell 1.16% (3.95 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 337.7 US cents/pound. The December 2025 contract decreased 1.24% (4.15 US cents/pound), reaching 330.05 US cents/pound.
Last week, world coffee prices rose to their highest level in two months. Therefore, today's slight drop in coffee prices is simply due to short-term profit-taking. Frost in Brazil, record low inventories, and logistics bottlenecks caused by global tariffs are still strong drivers of the recent upward trend in coffee prices.
Richard Volpe, a former USDA economist and now a professor at Cal Poly University (USA), believes that world coffee prices are still at their highest level in the past two months. According to him, this upward trend is likely to continue for the next 3 to 5 months as production and operating costs continue to escalate.
Mr. Volpe stated that the Producer Price Index (PPI) is reflecting a sharper increase in wholesale coffee prices than retail prices, forecasting even larger increases to come. Furthermore, tariffs on steel and aluminum could drive up the cost of packaging, processing equipment, and coffee storage, putting more pressure on the supply chain.
For Robusta coffee, prices rose sharply due to data from Cecafé showing a continued decline in Brazilian exports, while supply from Vietnam remains limited as the new harvest season is still several months away. In Indonesia, heavy rains have also disrupted the harvest. Experts predict that if the September Robusta contract price on the London exchange remains above $4,300 per ton, the upward trend will continue.
