Domestic coffee prices today (January 20th) remained stable in the Central Highlands provinces, reaching a high of 99,000 VND/kg, while world prices showed mixed trends.

Domestic coffee prices today, January 20th, remain stable, with no new fluctuations recorded in key growing regions. Currently, the highest trading price is at 99,000 VND/kg, reflecting the cautious sentiment of the market as it awaits further signals from export activities and fluctuations in international trading markets.

The domestic market maintains high price levels.

In the Central Highlands region, coffee prices today remained unchanged compared to the previous session, generally fluctuating between 98,300 and 99,000 VND/kg. Specifically, Dak Lak and Gia Lai currently have the highest prices nationwide, both trading around 99,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, in Lam Dong province, prices remained stable at a lower level of 98,300 VND/kg.

The sideways movement of domestic prices indicates that the market is in an accumulation phase. Domestic supply has not changed significantly, while farmers' willingness to hold onto their stock remains quite strong, contributing to maintaining prices at peak levels despite the divergence in pressure from global exchanges.

World prices are diverging between Robusta and Arabica.

On the London exchange, Robusta coffee prices showed mixed movements across different contract periods. The January 2026 contract fell slightly by $5/ton to $4,190/ton. Conversely, the September 2026 contract increased by $5/ton to $3,830/ton. This development reflects a technical adjustment by investors amidst concerns about limited Robusta supply from Vietnam.

On the New York exchange, Arabica coffee prices tended to decline across most trading periods. The March 2026 contract fell 2.8 cents/lb to 355.3 cents/lb. The December 2026 contract also recorded a decrease of 2.75 cents/lb, closing at 320.55 cents/lb. For Brazilian Arabica coffee, prices fluctuated, with the March 2026 contract slightly increasing to 429.0 cents/lb, but the December 2026 contract falling to 390.75 cents/lb.

Supply pressures and crop prospects

According to Reuters data, Robusta coffee prices continue to receive support from limited sales in Vietnam, despite signs of improving inventories on the ICE exchange. Rabobank notes that low rainfall in key growing regions of Vietnam is creating favorable conditions for harvesting, somewhat alleviating concerns about short-term supply.

In Brazil, a report from the Coffee Exporters Association (Cecafe) indicates record export revenues of $15.6 billion in 2025. Notably, despite a nearly 21% drop in export volume, a sharp increase in average coffee prices has offset the decline in production. Cecafe expects export volumes to recover to over 40 million bags this year; however, the next three months will be crucial in accurately assessing the supply outlook from the country.

Overall, the coffee market is entering a sensitive phase as domestic prices in Vietnam remain high, while world prices are constantly adjusting according to supply and demand factors. This trend is likely to continue dominating the domestic market in the coming weeks, especially as export trading activities become more active.
