Concerns about supply are supporting coffee prices. Vietnam's coffee production for the current crop year (October 2024 to September 2025) is projected to reach approximately 26.5 million bags. With the next harvest from October 2025 to September 2026, production could reach 28 million bags.
World coffee prices today
At the end of last week, online robusta coffee prices for May 2025 delivery on the London Exchange stood at $5,253 per ton, up 3% ($154 per ton) from the previous week; July 2025 delivery reached $5,277 per ton, up 4.5% ($228 per ton).
On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for May 2025 delivery rose 4.3% (15.5 US cents/pound) compared to the previous week, reaching 375.5 US cents/pound; the July 2025 contract was at 372.6 US cents/pound, up 5.4% (19 US cents/pound).
During the Easter holiday, the global coffee market temporarily suspends trading. The London market is closed all day Friday and Monday, while the New York market is closed only on Friday and operates for half of Monday.
Despite shortened trading hours, coffee prices trended upwards this week. This was primarily driven by concerns about supply due to lower-than-average rainfall in Brazil. Additionally, a report from Cecafe indicated that Brazil's green coffee exports in March fell sharply by 26% year-on-year, reaching only 2.95 million bags. The Cooxupe coffee cooperative also stated that high temperatures and low rainfall last month would negatively impact Brazil's coffee production this year.
Despite the ongoing Robusta harvest in Brazil, and the upcoming Arabica harvest next month, world coffee prices have not yet fallen. This indicates that current and potential supply remains highly uncertain.
