Domestic coffee prices today

Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, May 22, 2025, have sharply decreased compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 124,500 and 125,200 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at a maximum price of 125,200 VND/kg, a sharp decrease of 1,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 125,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by 1500 VND/kg and are trading at 125,000 VND/kg.

In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee decreased by 1500 VND/kg and is now at 124,500 VND/kg.

In the first four months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports reached nearly 666,000 tons, bringing in $3.8 billion. Although export volume decreased by 9.4% compared to the same period in 2024, value increased sharply by 51.8%. The main reason for this was the high average coffee price, reaching approximately $5,700 per ton, an increase of 67.6%.

The Mexican market was a standout during this period. Vietnam exported 17,413 tons of coffee to Mexico, earning nearly $93 million. Compared to the same period last year, export volume increased 30 times, while value increased 54 times. Thanks to this result, Mexico surpassed China to become Vietnam's 9th largest coffee consumer market.

Germany remains Vietnam's largest coffee export market, with a turnover of $628 million, accounting for nearly 17% of the total value and almost doubling compared to the same period last year. Other major markets such as Italy, Spain, Japan, the US, and Russia also recorded impressive growth, indicating strong global demand for Vietnamese coffee.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market rose slightly on both exchanges:

Robusta coffee (London):

July 2025 delivery: Increased by $82/ton, to $4,910/ton.

September 2025 delivery: Unchanged, at $4,895/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

July 2025 delivery: Up 2.1 cents/lb, to 371.4 cents/lb.

September 2025 delivery: Up 2.25 cents/lb, to 368.65 cents/lb.

The US coffee industry is currently under pressure from two sides: rising raw material prices and new import tariffs. Unable to produce coffee domestically, businesses are forced to adjust their selling prices, while the risk of retaliatory tariffs being imposed on major exporting countries like Vietnam is ever-present.

If no agreement is reached in bilateral negotiations, the US could impose a 46% import tariff on coffee from Vietnam starting July 9th. At the same time, Brazil is currently subject to a 10% tariff, while many other countries face even higher rates. During the 90-day grace period, coffee-exporting nations hope the US will adjust its tariff policy in a more flexible manner.

Paramount Coffee Company, one of the largest coffee roasters and distributors in the Midwest, has announced price adjustments due to the impact of new tariffs. This is typical of how the entire industry is feeling the consequences of new trade policies.
