According to coffee market expert Nguyen Quang Binh, many investors are selling off coffee on the exchange to cut losses, as recent data shows that supply from the world's two largest coffee exporting countries, Brazil and Vietnam, is abundant.

Conversely, consumer demand shows no signs of improvement. The global economy is facing numerous difficulties, particularly in the United States, the world's largest coffee importer, fueling growing concerns about a potential decline in consumption.

In the physical market, many Vietnamese farmers are still choosing to hold onto their coffee stocks due to their own capital, hoping that prices will rebound like last year. However, according to Mr. Binh, a price increase is only likely to occur if Brazil experiences major weather anomalies such as severe frost or drought.

Amidst the continued sharp decline in international coffee prices, without new positive supporting information, the domestic market is highly likely to continue its downward correction. In the short term, coffee prices are expected to remain under significant pressure, especially if inventories at international exchanges continue to increase.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market have risen sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta coffee (London):

September 2025 delivery: Increased by $107/ton, to $3,631/ton.

November 2025 delivery: Increased by $89/ton, to $3,563/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

September 2025 delivery: Up 0.95 cents/lb, to 305.45 cents/lb.

November 2025 delivery: Up 1.2 cents/lb, to 300 cents/lb.

Robusta coffee prices fell to their lowest level in 13 and a half months, and arabica prices hit a five-and-a-half-month low. This price level reflects significant pressure from increasing supply as Brazil enters its new harvest season.

Furthermore, new weather forecasts indicate a significant reduction in the risk of frost in key Brazilian coffee-growing regions such as São Paulo and Minas Gerais. This further increases supply and puts pressure on prices.

Another factor contributing to low coffee prices is the weakening Brazilian Real, which fell to its lowest level in a week and a half against the US dollar. When the domestic currency depreciates, Brazilian producers tend to increase exports, thereby increasing the amount of coffee available on the international market.

Nevertheless, the market still has some factors supporting a rise in coffee prices. Specifically, robusta coffee inventories monitored by ICE have fallen to their lowest level in 5 weeks, at only 5,123 lots as of June 25th. For arabica, inventories also decreased from 892,468 bags (the highest level in 4.5 months on May 27th) to 854,206 bags. This decline has somewhat helped to limit the fall in coffee prices on the world market.
