The first-ever Global Coffee Heritage Festival 2025 aims to make Lam Dong the world's coffee capital. The event is part of the local economic, tourism, and cultural development strategy, focusing on creating sustainable and long-lasting values.
The festival is an opportunity to affirm the Lam Dong coffee brand, while strongly promoting the local image to tourists and investors. Through the event, the province hopes to attract more resources and expand cooperation networks in the coffee industry.
Lam Dong was chosen to host the event due to its ideal ecosystem, cool highland climate, and over 100 years of Arabica coffee cultivation history. The harmonious combination of tourism, agriculture, and culture makes the locality stand out from other regions, creating a solid foundation for the formation of an international-level festival.
The festival will take place annually, aiming to make Da Lat one of the world's important coffee cities. This is a step in a long-term strategy to develop Da Lat into a global center for coffee research, innovation, experience, and trade.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:
Robusta coffee (London):
January 2026 delivery: Down $9/ton, to $4,504/ton.
Delivery in March 2026: Decreased by $12/ton, to $4,365/ton.
Arabica coffee (New York):
December 2025 delivery: Down 2.6 cents/lb, to 411.6 cents/lb.
March 2026 delivery: Down 3.4 cents/lb, to 379.9 cents/lb.
Coffee prices on both exchanges fell simultaneously following news that the EU extended the EUDR regulation for another year. This decision significantly impacted market sentiment, as the delay allows supplies from Africa, Indonesia, and South America to continue flowing into Europe without legal barriers, creating a sense of eased supply in the short term.
However, many experts believe the decline is short-term because weather conditions continue to put significant pressure on growing regions. In Brazil, rainfall in Minas Gerais last week was below 50% of average, raising concerns about the condition of Arabica crops. In Dak Lak, heavy rains are forecast to slow down the Robusta harvest, thereby creating upward pressure on prices in the coming period.
Inventories at the ICE exchange are also declining sharply. Arabica stocks hit their lowest level in nearly two years, while Robusta fell to its lowest point in over six months. The scarcity of physical goods at port warehouses means the market could rebound at any time, despite supportive supply news from Europe.
In the medium and long term, the coffee market remains caught between expectations of more abundant yields from Brazil and Vietnam in the next crop year and the risk of unpredictable extreme weather. These two factors will determine the direction of prices in the coming period.
