Coffee prices today, May 28, 2025: Rising again.
Today, May 28th, domestic coffee prices are at 123,200 - 123,900 VND/kg. Coffee prices have rebounded, increasing by 1200-1400 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Vietnamese coffee is gradually losing its competitiveness as prices are approximately 200-250 USD/ton higher than other countries.
Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, May 28, 2025, rebounded compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 123,200 and 123,900 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at the highest price of 123,900 VND/kg, a sharp increase of 1,400 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 123,700 VND/kg, an increase of 1,200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by 1200 VND/kg and are trading at 123,700 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 1200 VND/kg and reached 123,200 VND/kg.
Domestic coffee prices are currently fluctuating around 123,000 VND/kg, but very few transactions are taking place. This is because the price is not yet attractive enough, so farmers are holding onto their stock. International importers also no longer have the strong demand they once did. After purchasing large quantities of coffee in April and the first half of May, they have indicated they have sufficient supplies and are not ready to buy more until prices fall further.
According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, coffee exports from Vietnam are also facing difficulties due to several factors. Ports in Northern Europe are congested due to labor shortages and low water levels in the Rhine River, affecting shipping operations. Shipping costs have also increased sharply recently because China has boosted exports after the US postponed the 145% tariff, making it more difficult to book shipping vessels.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese coffee prices are gradually losing their competitiveness. Currently, other countries are offering prices approximately $200-$250/ton lower than Vietnamese coffee. This makes it difficult for Vietnamese coffee to be sold on the international market. Mr. Binh believes that the high prices in recent times are partly due to speculation, and in reality, the amount of unsold coffee in the intermediaries remains quite large.

Robusta coffee (London):
July 2025 delivery: Decreased by $3/ton, to $4,790/ton.
September 2025 delivery: Increased by $2/ton, to $4,786/ton.
Arabica coffee (New York):
July 2025 delivery: Down 0.25 cents/lb, to 361 cents/lb.
September 2025 delivery: Up 0.05 cents/lb, to 358.7 cents/lb.
On the world market, Brazil is in the peak harvest season for Conilon robusta coffee in 2025-2026. Thanks to the early harvest time, the region is less affected by winter, so production is estimated at around 25.5 million bags. The majority of this production is still used for the domestic market, which consumes up to 18 million bags annually.
However, in recent years, Brazilian robusta coffee exports have also increased sharply. Exports reached 1.47 million bags in the 2022-2023 crop year, and this figure surged to 8.24 million bags in the 2023-2024 crop year.
In the first 10 months of the 2024-2025 crop year, Brazil exported 5.89 million bags, a decrease of nearly 10% compared to the same period the previous year. The main reason was the hot and dry weather caused by El Niño, which affected flowering and resulted in lower Conilon yields compared to last year.
