At the end of last week, coffee prices in the Central Highlands increased by 1,500 to 1,700 VND/kg compared to the previous week. This is also the second consecutive week that domestic coffee prices have recorded an upward trend. Specifically, compared to the previous week, in Lam Dong, coffee prices increased by 1,600 VND/kg, and in Dak Lak, they increased by 1,700 VND/kg.

In Gia Lai, coffee prices increased by VND1,600/kg. Lam Dong coffee prices increased by VND1,500/kg compared to last week. During the week, there was a time when domestic coffee prices soared to nearly VND98,000/kg, the highest in the past 5 weeks.

According to Reuters, coffee prices in Vietnam continued to rise compared to last week as Vietnamese and Indonesian farmers were reluctant to sell in the hope of further price increases. A trader in Dak Lak said: "Farmers do not want to sell now because they hope the price will exceed 100,000 VND/kg."

Traders said trading activity has been slow as many have switched to importing coffee from Indonesia and Brazil, which offer more competitive prices. However, one trader predicted: "The harvest in Vietnam will start in October, so farmers are unlikely to be able to hold onto their stocks for too long."

World coffee prices today

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed last week at $3,228 per tonne, down 3.6% ($121 per tonne) from the previous week. The November 2025 futures contract fell 3.7% ($124 per tonne) to $3,196 per tonne.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for delivery in September 2025 fell 2% (6.1 US cents/pound) last week to 297.55 US cents/pound. The contract for delivery in November 2025 fell 1.9% (5.5 US cents/pound) to 290.45 US cents/pound.

Prices for both Robusta and Arabica coffee continued to fall this week, weighed down by ample supplies as Brazil speeds up its harvest. Robusta futures for September delivery fell to a 14-month low, threatening to lose the $3,000/tonne mark.

According to a report from Safras & Mercado, as of July 23, Brazil had harvested about 84% of its 2025/26 coffee crop, higher than the 81% of the same period last year and exceeding the 5-year average (77%). Of which, robusta reached 96% and arabica reached 76%.

Another factor weighing on robusta prices is that ICE-tracked inventories rose to a one-year high of 6,882 lots (68,820 tonnes), while arabica inventories fell to a three-month low of 802,678 bags. This difference puts even more pressure on robusta prices than arabica.
