Coffee prices are currently maintaining a short-term upward trend, supported by global market conditions and tight supply. These prices are approaching their highest levels in several weeks.

Domestic coffee prices rose across the board today.

Today's coffee prices in the Central Highlands region range from 88,100 to 88,800 VND/kg. This is the average price of robusta coffee beans, the most commonly traded type in Vietnam.

In Dak Lak province, the price of coffee reached 88,600 VND/kg, an increase of 1,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Gia Lai province also recorded a similar price of 88,600 VND/kg, also up 1,600 VND/kg.

World coffee prices continue to support the market.

Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange rose sharply. The July 2026 contract reached $3,481 per ton, up 1.55% from the previous session. The September 2026 contract reached $3,392 per ton, up 1.44%.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange also increased, but at a lower rate. The July 2026 contract reached 290.7 US cents/pound, up 0.79%. The September 2026 contract reached 280.6 US cents/pound, up 0.65%.

Rising global coffee prices are the main factor driving up domestic coffee prices, as Vietnam is a major exporter of robusta coffee and is directly influenced by the international market.

Reasons for the increase in coffee prices.

Coffee prices rose due to a sharp decline in inventories on exchanges. Arabica inventories on the ICE exchange fell to 494,508 bags, the lowest level in two months. Robusta inventories also fell to their lowest level in 16 months.

The strengthening Brazilian real also contributed to supporting coffee prices. When the domestic currency rises, Brazilian farmers tend to reduce sales, tightening global supply.

In addition, rising transportation and logistics costs due to geopolitical tensions are putting upward pressure on coffee prices. Factors such as fuel, insurance, and fertilizers are all at high levels.

Forecast of coffee prices in the near future.

Coffee prices may continue to fluctuate sharply in the near future. On the one hand, low inventories and rising costs will support prices. On the other hand, forecasts of large production from Brazil could limit the upward momentum.

Brazil's 2026–2027 coffee crop is projected to reach approximately 75 million bags, providing a large supply to the market. However, weather events such as El Niño could affect quality and harvesting progress.
