Coffee prices today, May 29, 2025: Sharp decline.
Today, May 29th, domestic coffee prices are at 121,700 - 122,300 VND/kg. Coffee prices have sharply decreased by 1,500 to 1,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Abundant supply is putting pressure on domestic coffee prices, causing them to continue falling.
Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, May 29, 2025, have sharply decreased compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 121,700 and 122,300 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at a maximum price of 122,300 VND/kg, a sharp decrease of 1,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 122,200 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by 1500 VND/kg and are trading at 122,200 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee decreased by 1500 VND/kg and is now at 121,700 VND/kg.
Abundant supply is putting pressure on coffee prices, especially as inventories on international exchanges have increased sharply. As of May 27th, ICE-monitored arabica inventories reached 892,468 bags, the highest level in nearly four months. Robusta inventories also hit an eight-month high of 5,438 lots. This has caused domestic coffee prices to continue falling, despite a slight increase in arabica prices, as the downward trend remains dominant in the global robusta market.
In Mexico, the USDA maintained its 2024-2025 coffee production forecast at 3.87 million bags, comprising 3.53 million bags of arabica and 340,000 bags of robusta. The forecast for the 2025-2026 crop year shows a slight increase to 3.91 million bags due to high international prices, encouraging investment in production. Exports of green coffee are expected to reach 1.35 million bags. To meet the increased domestic demand of 3.15 million bags, Mexico may import approximately 1.93 million bags, a more than 4% increase compared to the previous year.
Peru is also projected to increase production in the 2025-2026 crop year. Wet-processed arabica coffee production is estimated at 4.2 million bags, an 8.2% increase. Domestic consumption is only around 300,000 bags, so the majority will be exported. Despite having a large planted area, the average yield in Peru is only 721 kg/ha, relatively low. However, if world coffee prices remain positive, Peru could improve productivity through investment in agricultural technology and supplies, opening up prospects for increased coffee supply in the long term.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:
Robusta coffee (London):
July 2025 delivery: Decreased by $111/ton, to $4,585/ton.
September 2025 delivery: Decreased by $123/ton, to $4,569/ton.
Arabica coffee (New York):
July 2025 delivery: Down 8.5 cents/lb, to 353.2 cents/lb.
September 2025 delivery: Down 8.05 cents/lb, to 351.4 cents/lb.
Arabica coffee prices are showing signs of recovery after weeks of decline, mainly due to concerns about adverse weather in Brazil affecting harvest progress and yields. According to a report from Somar Meteorologia in Minas Gerais state, the country's largest arabica-growing region, only 0.3 mm of rain fell in the week ending May 24th, equivalent to 4% of the historical average.
According to consulting firm Pine Agronegocios, Brazilian farmers are currently slowing down their harvest, waiting for the coffee beans to ripen uniformly, especially in areas where harvesting is done by machine. Nevertheless, the market remains under pressure from abundant global supply.
The USDA forecasts Brazil's coffee production in the 2025-2026 crop year to reach 65 million bags, a slight increase of 0.5% compared to the previous crop year. Vietnam, the largest robusta producer, is also projected to increase its production by 6.9%, reaching 31 million bags.
