According to sources from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's coffee exports in the first six months of 2025 reached US$5.5 billion, setting an all-time record. With this result, the coffee industry has already exceeded its annual target in just the first half of the year.

However, coffee production is mainly concentrated in the harvest season from December to April of the following year. Therefore, export volumes in the second half of the year may not be as high as in the early part of the year. Nevertheless, total export revenue for 2025 is expected to reach approximately US$7.5 billion, a 36.9% increase compared to 2024.

The US remains Vietnam's main coffee export market. However, some partners there are increasingly looking for alternative sources of supply, leading to increased competitive pressure.

Against this backdrop, the Vietnamese coffee industry can expand its market to other countries such as China, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand. In particular, the Northeast Asian region, including China, Japan, and South Korea, is considered a long-term and promising direction for the industry's sustainable market development strategy.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta coffee (London):

September 2025 delivery: Decreased by $149/ton, to $3,511/ton.

November 2025 delivery: Decreased by $145/ton, to $3,457/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

September 2025 delivery: Down 11.15 cents/lb, to 280.8 cents/lb.

December 2025 delivery: Down 10.75 cents/lb, to 275.4 cents/lb.

Coffee prices fell sharply on the closing day of trading positions. Robusta prices rebounded as the US dollar index (DXY) dropped to its lowest level in nearly 3.5 years. This development triggered short covering on coffee futures contracts, helping robusta prices recover.

Conversely, Arabica coffee prices fell due to selling pressure from speculators following reports of a potential Arabica bumper crop in Brazil. This increased expectations of supply and put downward pressure on prices in the market.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Real continued to appreciate against the US dollar, reaching its highest level of the year as of yesterday and rising a total of 4.24% in June. As the Real strengthens, Brazilian coffee producers tend to limit sales due to reduced profit margins when converted to local currency.

Currently, many producers remain cautious. With stable finances, they are closely monitoring the ongoing harvest in Brazil to make appropriate decisions in the coming weeks.
