World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:

Online robusta coffee prices for May 2025 delivery on the London Exchange stood at $5,337 per ton, down 3.2% ($178 per ton) from the previous week; the July 2025 contract also fell 2.7% ($150 per ton), to $5,354 per ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for May 2025 delivery fell 2.6% (10.2 US cents/pound) compared to the previous week, to 379.95 US cents/pound; the July 2025 contract fell 2.3% (8.9 US cents/pound), to only 376.4 US cents/pound.

Robusta coffee prices have just hit their lowest level in 2.5 months, while arabica prices have also fallen to their lowest level in a month. The main reason is the forecast of rain in Brazil, which has eased concerns about drought conditions. In addition, robusta inventories managed by the ICE exchange have increased to their highest level in 7 weeks, adding further pressure on prices.

However, traders say robusta supplies in Vietnam and Indonesia remain tight. Vietnamese farmers are currently limiting sales in anticipation of higher prices, while Indonesia is facing supply shortages as it is nearing the end of its harvest season.

A trader in a coffee-growing region of Vietnam shared that the supply of robusta coffee currently depends mainly on Vietnam. Those who don't need cash immediately are holding onto their stock, waiting for better prices, making procurement very difficult in the market. Although it is currently the dry season, irrigation water is sufficient, not putting additional pressure on the crops.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Commodity Exchange, predicted that Brazil's Conilon robusta coffee production this year may be lower than expected due to unfavorable weather conditions with only one week left before the harvest. Therefore, domestic coffee prices are likely to remain high, around 135,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile in Indonesia, Sumatra robusta coffee for April delivery is currently trading at a discount of around $70-80, a slight decrease from last week ($100-110) due to increasingly scarce supply at the end of the season.
