Domestic coffee prices fell slightly today, mainly due to selling pressure on the international market and cautious investor sentiment amid global economic uncertainties, along with unfavorable weather forecasts in major coffee-growing regions. The market is currently awaiting clearer signals to determine the upcoming trend.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first six months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee export value reached US$5.5 billion, nearly double that of the same period in 2024 (US$2.7 billion) and exceeding the total export value for the whole year of 2024, which was US$5.4 billion. This is the first time the coffee industry has achieved such a high export value in just the first half of the year, and has also completed its export target for the whole year ahead of schedule.

This strong growth stems from large orders from key markets such as the US, EU, Japan, South Korea, and China. In particular, the industry has focused on boosting exports of processed coffee, specialty coffee, and instant coffee – high-value segments with large profit margins.

Based on current results, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment forecasts that coffee export revenue in 2025 could reach US$7.5 billion, an increase of approximately 37% compared to 2024. This is considered a record growth rate for Vietnam's coffee industry amidst the unpredictable fluctuations in the global market.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market rose slightly on both exchanges:

Robusta coffee (London):

September 2025 delivery: Increased by $67/ton, to $3,669/ton.

November 2025 delivery: Increased by $57/ton, to $3,608/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

September 2025 delivery: Up 0.4 cents/lb, to 291.6 cents/lb.

December 2025 delivery: Up 0.55 cents/lb, to 285.9 cents/lb.

World coffee prices continued to fall today, primarily due to increased supply pressure from major producing countries such as Brazil and Vietnam. In addition, technical factors and cautious market sentiment also contributed to the further price decline.

On the ICE Futures exchange, Arabica coffee prices fell by approximately 1-1.4%, reaching their lowest level in seven months. Robusta prices also declined by 1-2%, hitting a weekly low. The main reason is the sharp increase in supply at a time when Brazil is entering its peak harvest season.

Coffee inventories on international exchanges are also rising. Arabica inventories on ICE reached their highest level in nearly five months, while Robusta inventories continued to increase. This development reinforces concerns about oversupply, prompting many investors and businesses to sell off to lock in profits, further adding downward pressure on coffee prices.

In the short term, if weather conditions in major producing regions like Brazil remain favorable and inventories continue to be high, world coffee prices could fall further. However, unforeseen factors such as extreme weather, geopolitical tensions, or fluctuations in the USD exchange rate could still alter market trends.
