Domestic coffee prices today

Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, December 9, 2025, have slightly increased again, fluctuating between 102,500 and 103,300 VND/kg.

Specifically, in Lam Dong province, the prices in Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha increased slightly by 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday, trading at the same level of 102,500 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak province, the Cu M'gar area is currently buying coffee at 103,200 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday. The Ea H'leo and Buon Ho areas are trading at 103,100 VND/kg.

In Dak Nong (Lam Dong province), traders in Gia Nghia and Dak R'lap increased prices by 300 VND/kg compared to yesterday, trading at 103,300 and 103,200 VND/kg respectively.

In Gia Lai province, the Chu Prong area is trading at 102,700 VND/kg, while Pleiku and La Grai are at 102,600 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

December is always the peak harvest season for Vietnamese coffee, accounting for more than half of the year's production, so prices are usually low. Previously, businesses used to buy heavily during this time to stockpile and sell gradually throughout the year, but now, due to significant capital pressure, many companies are switching to buying in bulk to reduce risk. The amount of coffee in inventory is also dispersed across many small farmer warehouses, resulting in a less concentrated supply on the market than before.

Domestic consumption is projected to increase to 4.9 million bags, reflecting the growing appeal of the domestic coffee market. A thriving coffee-drinking culture, improved incomes, and a young, highly urbanized population are fueling a surge in demand for new products. While exports remain the primary driver, the domestic market is becoming increasingly important in the consumption structure.

Average per capita coffee consumption is also increasing rapidly each year and is expected to reach 3 kg this year. Busy lifestyles and long working hours have led to a surge in demand for instant coffee, due to its convenience and suitability for modern living habits.

According to a report by Knowledge Sourcing Intelligence, the Vietnamese instant coffee market is projected to grow steadily at a CAGR of 12%, aiming for a size of approximately US$731 million by 2028. This is considered a major driving force for the coffee industry, alongside traditional export activities.

Coffee prices fell across the board in the most recent trading session:

Robusta coffee (London):

January 2026 delivery: Reduced by $55/ton to $4,240/ton

Delivery in March 2026: Decreased by $73/ton to $4,105/ton

Arabica coffee (New York):

December 2025 delivery: Down 4.25 cents/lb to 402 cents/lb

March 2026 delivery: Down 2.95 cents/lb to 371.9 cents/lb

According to data from the Vietnam General Statistics Office, the total coffee growing area in 2024 reached 732,000 hectares, of which 677,000 hectares were under harvest. PPPD forecasts that the coffee growing area in 2025 will be around 730,000 hectares and may increase slightly to 731,000 hectares in 2026. This is a slight increase, reflecting the stability of the coffee growing region nationwide.

The Central Highlands – Vietnam's largest coffee-producing region – is estimated to have 676,500 hectares of coffee plantations by 2025, with an expected output of 1.9 million tons. However, replanting progress remains slow, with only 74,500 hectares renewed under the Coffee Replanting Program, while the plan is to replant 91,000 hectares.

The Replanting Program was established with the goal of replanting 200,000 hectares of coffee between 2014 and 2025, equivalent to about one-third of the total coffee area in the Central Highlands region. This is a major effort to improve productivity and quality by supporting farmers in replacing old coffee plantations with newer, more efficient varieties.

This policy also includes credit packages and technical support, helping farmers access modern farming technologies. The timely replanting is expected to improve raw material quality, stabilize production, and create a foundation for sustainable development of the coffee industry in the coming years.
