Factors affecting price
Robusta coffee prices are being supported by signs of slowing supply from leading producing countries. Specifically, farmers in Vietnam are limiting sales after the recent price drop. At the same time, widespread flooding in Indonesia could reduce the country's coffee exports by up to 15% in the 2025-2026 crop year, according to the President of the Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industry Association.
Conversely, Arabica coffee prices faced technical selling pressure after two sessions of recovery. The outlook for next year's crop in Brazil, the leading Arabica producer, showed signs of improvement, putting downward pressure on prices. However, buying from roasters following the recent price drop provided some support to the market.
Inventory data shows that ICE-monitored Arabica stocks have recovered to their highest level in two months, reaching 456,477 bags. Robusta stocks also increased to their highest level in three weeks at 4,278 lots.
Vietnam's coffee exports set a record.
According to data from the Vietnam Customs Department, coffee exports in the first 15 days of December reached 76,118 tons, worth $401.56 million, an increase of 51.9% in volume and 47.6% in value compared to the same period last year.
Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to December 15th, Vietnam exported 1.48 million tons of coffee, earning a record value of 8.36 billion USD, an increase of 16.9% in volume and 60.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
