Pretending to be a police officer, using a dating app to scam hundreds of millions of dong from women
Nguyen Van Quang bought a police uniform to gain trust and then appropriated a total of more than 242 million VND from Ms. H.
Long Khanh City Police (Dong Nai) has initiated a case and prosecuted Nguyen Van Quang (born in 1990, residing in Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) to investigate the crime of fraud and property appropriation.
Accordingly, Quang works as an electrical repairman and is having financial difficulties. At the end of 2022, in order to facilitate the acquaintance and appropriation of money from gullible people, Quang ordered police uniforms, handcuffs, etc. through social networks.

Quang then used the dating function of Facebook to get to know many women, including Ms. NTNH (residing in Long Khanh City, Dong Nai Province). When getting to know them, Quang used fake information that he was Nguyen Dinh Chung, who was working at the drug department of the Hanoi City Police.
After a while, Ms. H. agreed to get to know her and developed feelings. From March 2023 to April 2024, Quang often gave out information such as having to go on a business trip to a remote, dangerous border area, needing money to pay land tax, needing money to compensate for damages and repair the car due to an accident during the business trip, needing money to request a job transfer from the drug sector to the economic sector to facilitate the marriage.

From there, the subject created trust and then appropriated Ms. H's assets, totaling more than 242 million VND, to pay off debts and for personal expenses.
In April, Ms. H. discovered that Quang was not a police officer, so she reported him to the local police.
Long Khanh City Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
