(Baonghean.vn) - Meeting a woman who had outstanding debts, Hieu claimed to be an undercover police officer who could help collect the debt.

On April 15th, the Thanh Chuong District Police were still holding Nguyen Van Hieu (born in 1986, residing in Thanh Duc commune, Thanh Chuong district) in custody on charges of fraud and appropriation of property.

According to the police, in mid-April 2017, Hieu coincidentally met Ms. Vinh (born in 1966, residing in Thanh My commune, Thanh Chuong district). Hieu claimed to be an undercover police officer from the province carrying out a crime crackdown mission before April 30th.

Because she had previously lent money to several people but couldn't get it back when the deadline arrived, Mrs. Vinh asked Hieu for help.

Having agreed to collect the debt, Hieu demanded that Mrs. Vinh pay him 26 million VND as a fee for travel expenses. On April 7th and April 9th, Hieu received 3 million and 23 million VND from Mrs. Vinh, respectively.

After gathering evidence, on April 11, the Thanh Chuong District Investigation Agency arrested Hieu at his private residence. The seized items included a police uniform, six forged arrest warrants, and 26 million VND.

Hieu is unmarried and has a prior conviction for fraud and misappropriation of property. The Thanh Chuong District Police are conducting a further investigation into the case.
