Accordingly, on January 19, 2026, the Yen Thanh Commune Police received a report from two women, BTL and PTH (both residing in Yen Thanh Commune), alleging that they had been defrauded of 14 million VND by an individual with the Facebook account "Hai Tran Thi" in exchange for purchasing pets. Immediately after receiving the report, the commune police verified the information and arrested Tran Thanh Hai (born in 2005, residing in Tan Hoa residential area, Nam Hong Linh ward, Ha Tinh province), the perpetrator of the fraud against the two victims.
At the police station, the suspect admitted that the Facebook account "Hai Tran Thi" was created by Hai herself with the purpose of committing fraud and appropriating property by providing false information about selling pets (dogs, cats). After buyers contacted her, Hai would request a deposit, but in reality, she did not have any pets to sell. The images and videos of pets were obtained by Hai herself from online searches for information, breeds, and prices, which she then downloaded and used to carry out the fraud.
After receiving the deposit from the buyer, Hai spent the money on personal expenses and cut off all contact. Through investigation, it has been initially proven that the amount of money Trần Thanh Hải defrauded was 14 million VND.
