The family of the near-drowning victim sent a letter of thanks to the traffic police lieutenant.
(Baonghean.vn) - The letter stated that due to a misunderstanding with her family, on March 4th, Ms. LTH (born in 1990) ran to Trang Son Bridge in Do Luong district to commit suicide.
At that time, Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tuong and Lieutenant Nguyen Trong Cuong, from the Traffic Police Team of Do Luong District Police, were returning from patrol when they heard the commotion and immediately came to the rescue.
Upon seeing the victim struggling in the water, Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tuong, without even taking off his clothes, jumped in and safely brought Ms. H. to shore.
"According to eyewitnesses at the scene, many people saw my child jump from the bridge into the water, but because of the strong current and the danger to his life, no one dared to jump in. Only Comrade Nguyen Duy Tuong, still in his uniform, fearlessly jumped into the raging water to bring my child to shore. Afterwards, Comrades Tuong and Cuong took my child to the hospital," the letter stated.

After receiving emergency treatment, the victim regained consciousness and was taken home by her family for care. Nearly half a month after the incident, "the family is now happy again, and the daughter-in-law has calmed down. Therefore, the daughter-in-law's survival is thanks to the courageous and selfless act of Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tuong in saving her life," the letter stated.
Therefore, Mr. NTH, on behalf of his daughter-in-law, expressed his sincere gratitude: "My family expresses our deepest gratitude to the Nghe An Police force in general and the Do Luong District Police force in particular. Especially to comrades Nguyen Duy Tuong and Nguyen Trong Cuong…"

Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tuong's act of jumping into the river to save someone has received much praise from the local people.
It is known that Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tuong has been working at the Traffic Police Team of Do Luong District since June 2015. Previously, during the crime crackdown during the Lunar New Year, Lieutenant Tuong was also commended for successfully apprehending a suspect involved in the illegal trade of firecrackers.
