Gas prices unexpectedly surged by nearly 10,000 VND per cylinder.

Several companies unexpectedly increased the price of gas by nearly 10,000 VND per cylinder starting May 1st. This is the first gas price increase in 2018.

From May 1st, the price of gas increased by approximately 10,000 VND per 12kg cylinder compared to April. Accordingly, the selling price of gas in May at Petro VietNam Gas, Dau Khi Gas, Petrolimex, etc., ranges from 327,000 to 356,000 VND per 12kg cylinder.

Specifically, the price of gas from Pacific Petro Gas Company increased by 9,000 VND/12 kg cylinder, with a maximum retail price to consumers of 334,000 VND/cylinder. The price of gas from PetroVietNam increased by 10,000 VND/12 kg cylinder, with a maximum retail price to consumers of 327,000 VND/12 kg cylinder. The price of gas from the Oil and Gas Company is 356,000 VND/12 kg cylinder and from Petrolimex is 334,000 VND/12 kg cylinder.

Businesses have notified their branches, stores, and retail dealers about the gas price adjustments.

According to gas businesses, the increase in domestic gas prices is due to the impact of the average world gas price for May 2018, which was recently announced at $502.5 per ton, an increase of $30 per ton.
