Today, May 20th, the price of live pigs saw a slight downward adjustment in some key areas such as Hanoi, Bac Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City. According to surveys, the nationwide purchase price is currently maintaining a range of 66,000 - 70,000 VND/kg. Notably, Dong Nai is currently the only locality recording a price reaching 70,000 VND/kg.
Northern market adjusted prices down by 1,000 VND/kg.
In the northern region, live pig prices recorded a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg in two localities, Bac Ninh and Hanoi, both falling to 68,000 VND/kg. Currently, the general price level in this area ranges from 67,000 to 69,000 VND/kg.
Hung Yen currently holds the leading position in the Northern region with a price of 69,000 VND/kg. Conversely, the lowest price of 67,000 VND/kg was recorded in a number of localities including Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Ninh Binh, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien.

Lam Dong currently has the highest pork price in the region at 69,000 VND/kg. Thanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces are close behind with a price of 68,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the lowest price in the region, 66,000 VND/kg, remains in Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, and Khanh Hoa.
Southern Vietnam: Dong Nai maintains the highest price level nationwide.
In the southern region, the price of live pigs in Ho Chi Minh City has just decreased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 69,000 VND/kg. With this adjustment, Dong Nai officially becomes the only locality nationwide to maintain a price of 70,000 VND/kg.
Overall, live pig prices in the Southern region are commonly traded between 67,000 and 70,000 VND/kg. Localities such as Dong Thap and Ca Mau currently record the lowest prices in the region at 67,000 VND/kg.

Gia Lai temporarily suspends acceptance of small-scale pig farming projects.
Regarding the management of the livestock industry, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province has issued a document temporarily suspending the acceptance of applications for small-scale pig farming projects in the area. This decision is based on the advisory report of the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in order to align with the province's livestock development plan until 2030 and the orientation for 2045.
The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has requested specialized agencies to conduct a thorough review to ensure that no procedures outside of regulations are implemented. For projects that have already received investment approval, relevant units will strengthen inspection and supervision of implementation progress. In cases where projects are delayed or fail to meet environmental and disease safety requirements, the authorities will consider taking action or revoking the approval in accordance with the law.
