Lao Cai strengthens disease prevention and control during the transitional season.
Amidst market adjustments, disease prevention and control measures are being tightened in key livestock-producing areas. In Lao Cai, the transitional spring-summer weather with high humidity creates favorable conditions for disease outbreaks. Since the beginning of the year, African swine fever has re-emerged in 5 communes of the province, forcing the culling of 257 pigs with a total weight of over 6.3 tons.

Faced with the risk of disease outbreaks, local authorities have instructed people to strictly implement biosecurity measures and ensure full vaccination. In communes with strong livestock farming potential such as Xuan Quang and Gia Phu, people have proactively carried out regular disinfection and used probiotics to treat barn floors to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks.
The agricultural sector advises localities to continue strengthening quarantine, slaughter control, and organizing vaccinations according to plan to ensure the growth rate of the livestock industry, which reached 6.3% last year.
