Pork prices on April 29th remained stable nationwide ahead of the long holiday, with the Southern region and Lam Dong province continuing to record peak prices of 69,000 VND/kg.
The nationwide live pig market remained stable during the trading session on April 29th, right before the April 30th - May 1st holiday. The flow of goods maintained a steady pace, with the ceiling price of 69,000 VND/kg concentrated mainly in the southern provinces and the Central Highlands region.
The South maintains its leading position in the market.
In the southern region, live pig prices continue to remain at the highest level nationwide. Many key localities such as Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, and Can Tho simultaneously recorded prices of 69,000 VND/kg. This is considered the region with the strongest consumption thanks to its large distribution system and stable demand from urban areas.
Closely at 68,000 VND/kg are the two provinces of An Giang and Ca Mau. Overall, the price level in the South remained unchanged compared to the previous session, reflecting a balance between local supply and the demand for food stockpiling for the holiday.
Strong differentiation in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
The central region recorded the widest price range nationwide, from 63,000 to 69,000 VND/kg. While Ha Tinh had the lowest price at 63,000 VND/kg, in Lam Dong, the price of live pigs reached 69,000 VND/kg, equivalent to that of the southern provinces.

Nevertheless, consumer demand in the delta regions continues to play a crucial supporting role, preventing prices from falling too sharply.
Analyzing short-term market trends
The price of live pigs on April 29th accurately reflects market trends before major holidays. Supply remains sufficient to meet the increased demand from the accommodation and food service industries. It is predicted that in the next few days, prices may see slight increases of 500-1,000 VND/kg in areas with sudden surges in demand; however, the overall trend will remain stable around the current level.
