The Northern market recorded a slight increase.
In the northern region, live pig prices remained relatively stable, with Phu Tho recording an increase of 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 62,000 VND/kg. Other key localities such as Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Cao Bang, Hai Phong, and Dien Bien maintained the highest transaction price in the region at 63,000 VND/kg.
The provinces of Tuyen Quang, Ninh Binh, Son La, and Hung Yen are currently trading around 62,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Lai Chau remains the locality with the lowest price in the region, maintaining a level of 60,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price of live pigs in the North ranges from 60,000 VND/kg to 63,000 VND/kg.
Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands saw price adjustments downwards in many areas.
In contrast to the upward trend in the North, the Central and Central Highlands regions recorded a widespread price decrease. Specifically, the provinces of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa all saw a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, down to 63,000 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the current price is 62,000 VND/kg after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg.
Notably, despite a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, Lam Dong still has the highest price in the region at 66,000 VND/kg. Conversely, Thanh Hoa is the only bright spot in the region, with an increase of 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 62,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price of live pigs throughout the region ranges from 60,000 VND/kg to 66,000 VND/kg.
Pork prices in the South have dropped sharply, by up to 2,000 VND/kg.
The Southern market recorded the sharpest decline on March 13th. In the two major markets of Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, the price of live pigs decreased by 2,000 VND/kg, to 66,000 VND/kg. Tay Ninh and Ca Mau also recorded a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, currently trading at the same level of 66,000 VND/kg.
Other localities such as Dong Thap and Vinh Long continue to maintain stable prices at 65,000 VND/kg, while An Giang and Can Tho maintain a level of 66,000 VND/kg. Overall, the price of live pigs in the South is fluctuating within a narrow range of 65,000 VND/kg to 66,000 VND/kg, which remains the region with the highest prices nationwide.
In summary, market developments on March 13th showed localized adjustments in various regions. Despite a decline in the South, the highest market price remained at 66,000 VND/kg.
