New price peaks have been reached in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
Today, the Central and Central Highlands regions witnessed a breakthrough in Lam Dong province, where the price of live pigs rose to 69,000 VND/kg, matching the highest price in the southern provinces. In the Central Highlands, Dak Lak also recorded a good price of 68,000 VND/kg.
Other localities in the region maintain a clearly differentiated price level. Thanh Hoa, Gia Lai, and Khanh Hoa reached 65,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai provinces generally had prices around 64,000 VND/kg. Ha Tinh currently has the lowest live pig price in the Central region at 63,000 VND/kg.
The South maintains its leading position in the market.
The Southern market continues to play a dominant role in shaping high prices across the board. Key localities including Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vinh Long all maintained a price of 69,000 VND/kg. This is considered the target price range that many other localities are aiming for.
In the Southwestern region, Ca Mau maintained a price of 68,000 VND/kg. An Giang and Can Tho provinces recorded stable prices at 67,000 VND/kg. Overall, the price level in the South remains the highest in the country thanks to stable consumption demand in major urban areas.
The market in the North remained stable, with the highest price reaching 66,000 VND/kg.
In contrast to the slight upward trend in Central Vietnam, pork prices in Northern Vietnam remained unchanged in today's trading session. Hung Yen continued to have the highest price in the region at 66,000 VND/kg. Major cities including Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh province maintained a price of 65,000 VND/kg.
Most other localities such as Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Ninh Binh, and Lao Cai remained stable around 64,000 VND/kg. The lowest price in the entire North was 63,000 VND/kg, recorded in Lai Chau province.
Analyzing short-term market trends
The price of live pigs on April 21st showed positive signs as demand began to push prices in surrounding areas closer to the peak levels in the South. The fact that pig prices in Lam Dong reached 69,000 VND/kg indicates a positive balance between supply and market demand.
However, experts believe that a strong breakthrough is unlikely in the overall market due to the continued stability of supply and demand. It is predicted that in the coming days, the market will continue its sideways trend or experience slight, localized increases in some areas of the Central Highlands and Northern Vietnam.
