Recently, live pig prices in Hoai An district, Binh Dinh province have increased significantly, reaching approximately 58,000-63,000 VND/kg, prompting farmers to focus on hygiene and disinfection of their farms in preparation for restocking.
This is an opportune time to invest in livestock farming due to high pork prices and increased consumer demand towards the end of the year.
Ms. Le Thi Thao Suong, a pig farmer in Kim Son village, An Nghia commune, maintains a herd of 200-250 fattening pigs and has recently imported an additional 200 breeding pigs.
Ms. Suong cleans the pigpens, selects disease-free piglets, ensures they receive all necessary vaccinations, and supplements their diet with tonics and herbs like garlic yeast to boost their immunity.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhat, also from Kim Son village, is improving his wastewater treatment system and farm hygiene to repopulate his pig herd and serve the year-end market.
Stable pork prices help farmers make a profit, encouraging them to restock their herds so they can have pigs ready for market at the end of the year, generating income for their families.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Chanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Nghia commune, said that the commune's pig herd currently has 4,300 pigs and farmers are actively rebuilding their herds.
The number of newly restocked pigs in An Nghia commune is approximately 2,000, and the people are focusing on disease prevention to protect their livestock.
