Pig price in Central Highlands region

Over the past week, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions has had inconsistent changes. Specifically, the current price of live pigs fluctuates from 64,000 to 68,000 VND/kg.

In Thanh Hoa, the price of live pigs decreased slightly by VND1,000 to VND68,000/kg, equivalent to the price in Nghe An. Other localities in the region witnessed a slight increase in price, about VND1,000/kg.

Pig price in the Southern region

Over the past week, the price of live pigs in the South has increased slightly from 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg. Specifically, in Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Dong Thap provinces, the price of live pigs is currently 67,000 VND/kg, this is the highest price in the region.

Pork prices typically fall during the summer months of June to August due to reduced demand from students during school holidays. Demand picks up in September as schools reopen and pork prices are expected to recover.

This past summer, due to the imbalance between supply and demand, the price of live pigs remained high.

Storm No. 3 caused heavy damage to farms, leading to reduced supply and increased pork prices.

The Northern market is experiencing a large price gap: some places are selling at low prices due to the impact of floods, while other areas are keeping prices high.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, former Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, commented that restoring pig herds for Tet will be difficult due to damage from floods and the time needed to raise commercial pigs is at least 5 months.
