Rice price today June 14, 2025: Rice price continues to decrease due to slow transactions and abundant supply, bran price increases sharply to 450 VND/kg

Domestic rice price

In the Mekong Delta provinces, rice and paddy transactions have slowed down, and prices of some varieties continue to decrease slightly. OM 5451 rice has decreased by VND 200/kg to VND 5,700 - 6,000/kg; OM 18 rice (fresh) has decreased by VND 100 to VND 6,100/kg. Other varieties such as Nang Hoa 9, Dai Thom 8, IR 50404 or OM 380 have remained stable, ranging from VND 5,200 to VND 6,750/kg depending on the type.

The raw rice market is also stable, with IR 504 at 7,900 - 8,100 VND/kg; OM 5451 at 9,450 - 9,550 VND/kg; Jasmine at 17,000 - 18,000 VND/kg. Transactions in An Giang, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang are all taking place at a slow pace, with a small amount of goods arriving at warehouses and low demand.

At traditional markets, retail rice prices remained stable. Fragrant rice was commonly priced at VND18,000 - 22,000/kg; Huong Lai rice remained at VND22,000/kg; regular rice was at VND15,000 - 16,000/kg. Nang Nhen rice continued to be the most expensive item, fluctuating at VND28,000/kg.

Prices of various types of sticky rice remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Fresh and dried sticky rice remained at around 7,700 - 8,000 VND/kg; IR 4625 sticky rice (dried) reached a high of 9,700 - 9,900 VND/kg.

Today, bran prices skyrocketed by 450 VND/kg, to 7,900 - 8,200 VND/kg. Meanwhile, rice husk prices remained at 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, OM 5451 broken rice was traded at 7,400 - 7,500 VND/kg.

Export rice price

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable today. Specifically, 5% broken rice was at 388 USD/ton, down slightly by 8 USD compared to last week; 25% broken rice was stable at 364 USD/ton; 100% broken rice remained at 318 USD/ton.

According to Reuters news agency, the Asian rice market this week recorded a clear decline due to oversupply pressure and weak import demand from key markets.

In India, the price of 5% broken parboiled rice has dropped to $378-$384 per tonne – the lowest in two years. 5% broken white rice has dropped to $372-$377 per tonne. The main reason is the huge national reserves, up to 59.5 million tonnes (as of June 1), more than four times the government’s target of 13.5 million tonnes. Although prices have been adjusted down continuously, demand remains sluggish as buyers wait for prices to fall further.

In Thailand, the price of 5% broken rice fell from 410 USD to 398 USD/ton, due to the weak baht and weak demand. In particular, the Philippines - one of the region's largest customers - cut imports, while Indonesia suddenly switched to exporting, causing a partial surplus in Southeast Asia.

In Vietnam, despite high quality rice and a large harvest season, prices of 5% broken rice are still under downward pressure. Rice exports in May fell nearly 10% year-on-year, reflecting slowing international consumption. “Supplies are good but major markets are not increasing orders, making it difficult for prices to remain stable,” said a local trader.

In Bangladesh, the situation is similar. The government increased the domestic purchase price by 9% but it was not enough to attract farmers because of the higher market price. The purchase plan is therefore in trouble.
